In December of 2014, a house we've long admired came up for sale, and the price was right. We had plans to build a house in Summer 2015, so this messed things up a bit. We had written it off years before, because the owner was unwilling to sell. Besides, the roof was obviously bad, the sheds were caved in, and the porch was rotting off. It was obvious that it was falling apart due to years of disrepair. So when the realtor agreed to show us the house, we were expecting to be disappointed. After touring it, we were in love. Somehow we saw past all of the rough edges and were able to see a diamond in the rough. The bones were good, and the brick Victorian deserved to be saved. We didn't have to think too hard before we put in an offer. We would be honored to love this place back to life. On Christmas Eve, we got a call from Trails End. The house was ours! I was literally jumping for joy. Even though there is a lot of work ahead, we feel so fortunate to own this piece of Genesee history.
We are so happy that a yourg family got this house, so full of memories and a landmark of Genesee; a diamond in the rough for sure, but you can do it. Life will go on for that beautiful home. God bless you all and keep you safe in the "repair phase" of this venture. Mary and Frank Grom
